In an exclusive interview with REAL 92.3 LA on June 7, Renner, 33, disclosed the abrupt end to their union mere weeks after exchanging vows.

Renner revealed,
“Our wedding took place on April 6th, and we parted ways on May 28th.”
The couple's hasty dissolution surprised fans who had recently celebrated their engagement during the Basketball Wives Season 11 premiere in May.
Earlier in May, Renner had affectionately labeled Gates as her "huzband" in a now-deleted Instagram post.
Despite filing legal documents, Renner emphasized adherence to the 90-day Islamic waiting period, or Iddah, allowing potential reconciliation and pregnancy verification.
“During this timeframe, romantic engagements with others are discouraged; Allah encourages marital unity.”
Renner expressed contentment with her decision, stating,
“I followed my heart, which speaks louder than anyone can articulate.”
She described the marriage as a 90-day period of introspection, prioritizing personal growth and clarity.
The "Basketball Wives" actress, also known for her prior relationship with NBA player P.J. Washington, shared that the union held significant emotional weight for her.
Conversely, Gates maintained a composed stance regarding the split. When questioned on the BET Awards red carpet about Renner's departure, he responded:
“I respect her right to choose, and I sincerely hope she finds happiness.”

The public revelation has reignited speculation about Kevin Gates' longstanding marriage to Dreka Gates.
The rapper wed Dreka in 2015, and despite his recent public ties to Renner, no divorce filings have emerged from Dreka Gates.
