Basketball Coach Chad Fleming Passes Away, Leaving Family in Mourning

Chad Fleming, a dedicated educator and coach, died suddenly on September 25, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Jen Fleming, a math specialist at Mystic River Magnet School, and their children, Melanie Elizabeth Fleming and Adam Fleming.
Melanie, a high-achieving student at Fitch High School, excels academically as a National Honor Society member and is actively involved in extracurricular activities such as cello performance and competitive dance. She earned a Bronze & Silver Award as a Girl Scout and will attend UConn this fall to study marketing.

Beyond academics, he coached multiple sports teams, emphasizing personal growth over competition. His commitment extended to building youth programs and supporting local athletes.
A Meal Train has been organized to assist Jen, Melanie, and Adam during this challenging period, with donations accepted to ease financial burdens.
Community members shared heartfelt tributes, including those from bus driver MzAtherton AthertonTingz, who described Chad as a cherished figure who treated every child with warmth and dedication.
