Peter DeBoer, a distinguished Canadian ice hockey coach and former player, has concluded his tenure as head coach for the Dallas Stars in the NHL.

The experienced NHL coach joined the Stars on June 21, 2026, but was subsequently dismissed on June 6, 2026 following their third straight conference finals defeat.

Jim Nill, Dallas Stars General Manager, confirmed the decision and mentioned the ongoing search for a new head coach.

His departure announcement included heartfelt words expressing gratitude:

"After thoughtful consideration, we recognize the need for fresh leadership to advance our Stanley Cup aspirations. Thank you to Pete for his contributions over three seasons—wishing him continued success ahead."

During his time with the Stars, DeBoer achieved three consecutive Western Conference Final appearances while compiling a 149-68-29 regular season record over 246 games.

While critics question his inability to guide the Stars to a championship, his spouse Susan has consistently offered encouragement throughout all career phases.

The couple celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary in 2024, maintaining a public presence through supportive messages.
