On January 6, 2026, the organization announced Martin's signing as a right-handed reliever on a one-year deal.

Prior to joining the Rangers, Martin posted impressive stats with the Red Sox—3 wins, 1 loss, and a 3.45 ERA across 45 relief outings for the 2026 campaign.

His previous MLB tenure saw him achieve a stellar 2.16 ERA over 100 games spanning two seasons.

Previously, Martin agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract with Boston on December 8, 2026.

Notably, this marks Martin's second stint with the Rangers. He initially signed a two-year deal with them back on December 15, 2017.

During his time with the team from 2018-2019, Martin recorded a 3.84 ERA alongside 80 strikeouts in 84 games.

Rangers supporters enthusiastically embraced Martin's return to his former club.

The organization proudly shared an image on their official X account featuring "Welcome home, Chris!" accompanied by enthusiastic fan reactions celebrating his comeback.

Chris Martin's Journey Began In Independent Leagues!

The Colorado Rockies drafted Martin in the 21st round of the 2005 MLB draft before he returned to McLennan for his sophomore year.

Despite being overlooked in the 2006 MLB draft after suffering a shoulder injury during his college season, Martin persevered. The Rockies ultimately chose not to offer him a contract. After graduating, he joined the Fort Worth Cats of the Independent League Baseball in 2007, marking his professional debut.

Unfortunately, his shoulder issues prevented him from playing professionally at that time. Instead, Martin underwent surgery to repair his labrum but opted to quit baseball temporarily instead. After three years away, he rejoined the Grand Prairie AirHogs of the Independent American Association of Professional Baseball in 2010.

Martin eventually made his major league debut with the Colorado Rockies on April 26, 2014, after being promoted on April 25.

Today, Martin continues demonstrating outstanding talent and contributing significantly to MLB.
