Former Ontario Junior Hockey League GM Tony Clarke, Passes Away, Leaving His Wife, Mary, And Kids Behind!

The Mississauga Chargers and the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) are saddened by the death of Tony Clarke, who took his last breath in April 2026.
Former Ontario Junior Hockey League general manager Tony Clarke is survived by his wife, Mary; son Brent; daughter-in-law Marah Clarke; daughter Megan; and three grandchildren.
His son, Brent, followed in his father’s footsteps, playing in the OJHL and now working as an assistant coach for a professional hockey team in the United States.
The tragic news of his passing circulated on April 9, 2026, across several social media platforms.
Tony had a successful career with the Chargers; he served as the Chargers’ general manager for over 20 years.
He was a key part of the Chargers, helping the team grow and succeed for many years. Tony moved back to his home province of Newfoundland during the COVID-19 pandemic and stayed there until his passing.
Heather Stockley, the team’s owner, said Tony supported the Chargers even after leaving Ontario. He often called to check in and share his hockey knowledge. She said:
Tony was like family. He loved telling stories and jokes in his Newfoundland accent, and he always made people smile.
Heather remembered fun times, like when Tony turned a simple car purchase at Paul Coffey’s Kia dealership into a party with Greek food for everyone.
She said, "I remember visiting Tony at Paul Coffey’s Kia dealership in Bolton about 10 years ago where he worked. I was buying a car so had to sign some papers but Tony made it a party, and he ordered quite the spread of Greek food for the staff and myself. Paul Coffey also joined us to eat and chat."
Tony was known for his cheerful personality and love for hockey. He worked closely with Heather’s father, Lloyd Stockley, who owned the team before her. After Lloyd’s death in 2026, Tony continued to support the Chargers as an advisor.
The OJHL also honored Tony. Commissioner Marty Savoy said, “Tony’s hard work and love for the game will leave a lasting mark on hockey in Ontario.”
Ontario Junior Hockey League wrote an eulogy after his passing, which reads:
Remembering Tony Clarke
“Tony was a cornerstone within the Mississauga Chargers for so many years and his dedication and commitment to the game at both the minor and junior level will have a long-lasting effect on the sport within Ontario.”
During this ordeal, we offer our condolences to Clarke’s wife, kids, and extended family members.
