Renowned driver Robbie Brewer, a pillar of Bowman Gray Racing for over three decades, succumbed to a sudden health crisis amid intense competition.

With four laps remaining in the opening feature of a double-header, Brewer’s vehicle swerved violently near turn four, colliding head-on with the barrier before being swiftly extracted by medical responders.

Family confirmed his passing early Sunday morning after hospital transport. Colleagues recall his 35-year legacy, including 11 Sportsman Division victories and a 2011 championship triumph.

His career spanned 311 career starts—24 Modifieds, 259 Sportsman, and 28 Stadium Stock entries—beginning in 1990 with a 12th-place finish in the Buzzbomber Division.

Beyond Bowman Gray, Brewer excelled regionally with 602 Modified dominance, securing back-to-back titles in 2018-2019 and a championship in 2016.

His death marks the fifth stadium fatality since 1937, following tragedies from 1947 through 2002. Team members included Dylan Ward, Chase Lewis, and Lewis siblings Brad and Emilee.

Brad Lewis shared heartfelt tribute: "I gave my last fist bump to Robbie last night... A true man’s man."

Stadium officials expressed sorrow: "Robbie was a gifted racer whose passion defined our circuits. Our deepest condolences go to his loved ones."

Community mourns losing a beloved figure whose integrity and grit inspired generations of racers.
