Rafael Pinedo (Source: )Born in San Diego, Rafael’s passion for sports began early—playing football, baseball, and wrestling at Hilltop High School. His athletic spirit carried him forward, shaping a career dedicated to nurturing young talent.
In 2026, he joined Holy Spirit Catholic High School as an assistant coach, bringing his philosophy of "On the Line Gentleman" to the field. To Rafael, coaching was more than a job—it was a calling rooted in honor, discipline, and unwavering care.
His service in the United States Army as an infantryman defined his character. Wearing the name of a fallen Marine was a badge of pride, reflecting his commitment to duty and sacrifice. "This We’ll Defend" wasn’t just a motto; it was his way of life.
Pinedo Family (Source: Facebook)At twelve, Rafael met Duschka Castorena Pinedo—together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and shared dreams. Their union produced three children: Christian, Rafael Jr., and Duschka. As a husband, father, and coach, Rafael embodied warmth, humor, and generosity.
When illness struck, Rafael faced it with remarkable resilience. Surrounded by family, friends, and those he inspired, he continued to lead—not just on the field, but in spirit.
Duschka ensured their home remained open, offering solace to loved ones and honoring Rafael’s desire for connection even in farewell. A fundraiser established by Gabby Rubalcava aimed to ease funeral burdens, allowing the family to focus on celebration rather than expense.
Rafael’s influence stretched beyond sports. Through his VA work, church involvement, and community engagement, he embodied southern hospitality and genuine kindness. His laughter could brighten any gathering, and his words carried wisdom and warmth.
An ardent fan of the LA Chargers, San Diego Padres, and Alabama Crimson Tide, Rafael lived for cheering and sharing joy. "Roll Tide!" echoed his unwavering passion for the game.
