Per CHP records, the tragic incident unfolded around 9:30 PM near Winchester Road on I-15, where Mina Sabet was traveling in a BMW M4 that veered into oncoming traffic.
The vehicle collided head-on with a white Nissan Sentra, resulting in catastrophic damage. Four occupants—including Mina and fellow teen Jacob Labib—were trapped inside the burning wreckage.
The driver, a 25-year-old from Moreno Valley, suffered severe burns and remains hospitalized. The Nissan's 35-year-old driver died en route to the hospital, while a 22-year-old passenger survives in critical condition.
Authorities confirm four fatalities, underscoring the accident's severity. Mina and Jacob, returning from a tournament, became symbols of hope whose lives were cut short.
Neighbors and fans have flooded social media with tributes, expressing collective sorrow. A heartfelt message from the Coptic Orthodox community reads:
We mourn the loss of Mina Sabet and Jacob Labib, returning from their tournament. May God grant them peace and comfort their families during this unimaginable grief.
Both players embodied SoCal Reds FC's potential, celebrated for their skill and dedication. Investigations continue into the BMW driver's high-speed violation, which likely contributed to the disaster.
Rest in peace to these bright young talents whose legacies will inspire generations to come.
