A devastating event claimed the life of 13-year-old Dakota Tubbs in Centralia on Friday evening, May 2nd.

While skating along Harrison Avenue around 11:15 p.m., Dakota was unfortunately struck by a passing vehicle. Eyewitnesses confirmed he was on the road during the incident.

Regrettably, medical professionals confirmed Dakota's passing at the hospital shortly thereafter.

Known for his dedication to sports, Dakota had recently participated in games for the Twin Cities Youth Football League (TCYFL) on the same day. He was a proud member of the 7th-grade football team at Centralia Middle School, where he embraced every opportunity to play.

Survived by devoted parents Kelley and Tyler, Dakota's absence leaves a profound void filled with sorrow for all who knew him.

The Tubbs family established a GoFundMe campaign to offset funeral costs, which has already gathered $11,835 of its $15,000 target. Aunt Courtney Stewart initiated this effort to provide relief during this difficult period.

As the community mourns, Dakota's aunt shares his story through a heartfelt message expressing eternal love and the inexplicable pain of loss.

I love you Dakota Michael Tubbs, I will never understand why you had to leave us. You were such and amazing boy, son and brother. My heart will hurt for the rest of my life.

Friend Calvin Singleton reflected on Dakota's gentle nature and enduring impact on those around him, particularly his close friend Daniel, who struggles deeply with the loss.

Nearby friends Owen and Samuel gathered quietly near the tragedy site, creating a space for reflection. Approximately 40 children visited the location to honor Dakota's memory and leave tokens of remembrance.
