The Jonesborough community mourns the sudden passing of Elijah "Eli" Harrison Parsons, age 17, who died on September 23, 2026.

Born January 7, 2008, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Eli was the beloved son of Burleigh Joe and Kristyle Renee Parsons.

His parents, siblings, and friends remember him as a joyful young man whose infectious humor brightened every room.

Eli approached life with boundless energy, laughter, and unwavering faith. He had a gift for making others smile and stood out as a loyal, devoted friend.

As a senior at David Crockett High School, Eli excelled in cross country, track, and wrestling, pouring his heart into every competition.

His parents cherished watching him succeed at meets, always seeking his approving smile.

Teammates and coaches recall him as both a dedicated athlete and a source of encouragement, uplifting everyone around him.

Eli was a loving younger brother and protective older sibling, sharing special moments with siblings Madison, Zachary Chase, B. Parsons, Corey (Andrea), Evan (Kim), and Austin Banner (Kayla).

Madison especially treasures their time together—daily school rides and lunchtime conversations that created lasting memories.

His siblings remember endless laughter, playful teasing, and a love that ran deep through every relationship.

His parents called him their "precious gift from God," filling their lives with over 17 years of joy and meaning.

"We never imagined we'd have to say goodbye so soon," reflected his father Burleigh, capturing the shock of losing such a vibrant presence.

Eli's faith guided his journey. He regularly attended Cherry Grove Baptist Church, inviting friends to youth services to experience true fellowship.

His influence reached beyond family, leaving peers inspired by his kindness, humor, and light.

He is survived by his parents, siblings, grandparents Percy and Shirley Parsons Lambert, Harry Wilburn, Barbara Sue Banner, three nephews, four nieces, and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He preceded his grandfather, Burleigh Joe Parsons Sr., in death.

Funeral services will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2026, at Cherry Grove Baptist Church, led by Pastor Scott Hayes.

Family will welcome friends from 12:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service, followed by a graveside ceremony at Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Corey Parsons, Evan Parsons, Chase Parsons, Austin Banner, Caleb Hackney, James Mink, Conner Shaw, and Ethan Grear.

Honorary pallbearers are Jackson White, Avery McAlister, Casen Davis, and DCHS track, cross country, and wrestling team members.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Madison's college fund, honoring Eli's passion for education and family.

Elijah Parsons' legacy lives on through his faith, laughter, and the profound impact he made on all who knew him.

His memory endures in shared stories, touched lives, and unwavering belief in love.
